03Previews, launch & care
Nothing goes live unseen.
New work is shown to you privately first. When you are happy, the new site goes live on your own address with a safe way back. Then it is kept an eye on.
How a launch feels
A step forward you can step back from.
This is the part most hosting leaves to you. Here it is simply how every site we look after goes live.
Private preview
A new site is built at a private address where you can click through the real thing on your phone and your desk. It is hidden from search engines until you say otherwise.
Backed up first
Before a launch, what is already there is backed up and kept, including a site someone else built.
Launch
The new site takes the place of the old one on the same address. Same domain, same email; visitors simply see the new site.
A way back
Because the previous version is kept, a launch can be reversed if something turns up that the preview did not show.
Monitoring
The site is kept an eye on after launch. We do not publish figures; we would rather tell you what is being watched and who is watching.
Changes and updates
The next change comes through the same network that built the site, so you never have to explain the setup twice. The network

You see the finished site on a private address before anyone else does. Then it goes live.
Where to begin
Launching a site built somewhere else?
Previews, backups and the launch itself work the same way for a site another studio built. Tell us what it is and where it is, and we will explain the move.
